Dell Inspiron N5010 wireless internet question

From time to time, an issue comes up where my wireless internet suddenly goes out, and I run the troubleshoot and it tells me that the wireless switch needs to be physically switched on. I'm running Windows 7 64-bit.

I have no idea where this "switch" is, but when I restart, everything seems to work fine.

Is there something I can do to not have to restart whenever this happens? Thanks in advance.

Hi JMC99,

Welcome to the Community. There is no Wireless Switch on the Inspiron N5010. To turn on wireless, you will need to hold down on the FN key, and tap the F2 key once, that's the wireless switch on your system.

I would suggest you to update the wireless card driver from our support site by usining the below link. Make sure to check which wireless card you have on your system, and then download it. You will find the wireless driver under network.

Thank you

Hi Jmc99,

Click on Start, Right click on Computer, Click Properties, Click on Device Manager, click on the + symbol next to Network, that will show you which wireless card you have on your computer.

Thank you

Royan

I bought Dell Inpiron 1510N few days ago. I cannot connect it to wireless internet. I am pressing F2 key without Fn key. The sign of enabling wireless appears but there is still cross on the signal area in taskbar (close to clock)

I just want to say that on my DELL N5010 you do not use the FN key, you use the WINDOWS key. The wireless icon is in white which corresponds to the windows key.
