2305 processor upgrade

Ok  i just got my 2305 and love it. However after a little research i have been wantin gto upgrade my x2 processor to something a bit faster. Here is my current processor

Current Processor:

AMD Athlon II X2 240e

Socket AM3

Technology 45 nm

Max TDP 46 W

and this is what i would like to install.FX 4100 Black Edition 3.6GHz Quad-Core. I would like to know if it is possible and if not what is the fastest pocessor i can get for the 2305. I am going to be upgrading to 8gb ram from 4 also.

That was never tested by us. The fastest we validated is -

D3XK6 AMD Athlon X2 250E, 3.00GHz, 512X2, C3

I don't think it's going to be possible. The CPU may physically fit into the system but the new FX-4100s (the Bulldozer series) are a new architecture. As such the BIOS of the Inspiron One 2305 probably wouldn't recognize the CPU. In addition the TDP of the FX-4100 is 95W - more than twice that of the current CPU; I'd be afraid the heat build up would damage something else in the system.

I'd stay with Chris' suggestion that if it's possible to do (and the Dell service manual seems to suggest it is). I don't know if the BIOS supports it but the only quad-core CPU I'd risk putting in the system is AMD Athlon II X4 610e as it's a low-energy CPU like the X2 in the system now. They both have a TDP of 45W but like I said with the FX-4100: I don't know if the BIOS will support the CPU.

Can i use the D3XK6 AMD Athlon X2 250? 250 with no E?  And it will work? I want to upgrade this system badly, its just a bit below what i want as a second system. Tested any other processors that i can get better than the 1.6ghz dual core x2 ? Any info would be greatly appreciated!
