Hi Barbara,

This will be fixed in the upcoming release.  In the meantime, please review this thread.  You may be able to edit dconfig.ini to work around this behavior.

BTW, I'm pretty sure you just need to discover the server via SNMP and the iDrac should get discovered and listed in the inventory page for the server.

Hallo Rob,

Yes, the inventory discovers the iDRAC together with the server and shows a link to the web interface of the iDRAC.

Our question is, is there a difference between discovery of the iDRAC itself and the discovery of iDRAC over discovery of the server. Get we more information from the iDRAC if we discover it with its own name or ip? Or its equal, over which way we discover the iDRAC?

IMO there is no difference so I say its not neccessary to discover the iDRACs additionally to the servers but my collegue want not believe me...

Best regards

Hi there,

Yep...

If you are using 11G and below servers and have OMSA installed on those servers, you don’t have to discover iDrac separately. It does not provide any additional information. The iDrac URL is shown on the inventory page as reported by OMSA and you can launch iDrac console and manage it without having to discover iDrac separately.
