No Sound from Speakers; Headphones OK - Dell XPS 8300, Windows 7

I bought a new Dell XPS 8300 running Windows 7.  I connected my existing speakers (Dell - Zylox Model A525 - consisting of a subwoofer and a left/right speaker) from a Dell running XP, but can get no sound from the speakers regardless of what external speaker port I connect them to.  I do get a brief hum from the speaker when plugging into some of the sound ports.  The sound card is a Sound Blaser X-Fi Titanium.

I can get sound using headphones.  All diagnostics run OK.

The GREEN speaker jack on the SoundBlaster is the correct port.

Since you are using a separate SoundBlaster sound card, make sure the Internal (on the motherboard) sound module is disabled in the BIOS (F2 - Setup at power on to access the BIOS).

Finally, go to the Control Panel/Hardware and Sound and finally the Sound Panel.  In the playback section, make sure your "speakers" (sound card) is set as the default playback device.

You can check the Speaker sound output by plugging the headset into the GREEN speaker jack on the SoundBlaster sound card.  If you get sound, that says the PC is OK and the problem is in the speakers.

Thanks for your help.  I thought I tried all of the speaker jacks on the Sound Blaster card, but perhaps I didn't seat the plug properly.  The green speaker jack on the SoundBlaster card works just fine (for both the headphones and the speakers).  Thanks again.
