Re-Creating Dell Factory Image

Welcome to the Community,

Factory Image is stored in the recovery partion of the HDD which you get along with the system.Now if you have bought a new replacement HDD locally that will just be a blank HDD.To reinstall Windows you need to use the Windows DVD which came along with the system and download the drivers from www.support.dell.com.Under drivers and downloads use your system Service Tag to get the drivers for your system.

I'm not sure if you'll need to make a partition or if it will create its own.

Factory Image is not available for download.If you've received a blank HDD,you will need to reinstall Windows using the Windows OEM DVD  and download drivers from www.support.dell.com, Drivers and Downloads,use system service tag or model number to get the list of drivers.

If the Hard drive was a replacement from Dell, it contains an image on it. You install the hard drive and it starts installinbg the operating system on its own. You'll still have to install virus protection and some of your paid programs.

hi i am facing the same problem. i dont have a factory image on my hdd. but i am trying to install dell local backup 2.0 and it requires a factory image on my HDD.
how do i go about solving this issue?

You'll need to Request Backup Disks USA if in another Country, contact Dell Tech Support.

If you just need a file to trick Dell Datasafe, copy from windows installer dvd/flash drive from source directory the file

called install.wim to your HD and rename it Factory.wim this will let Datasafe install then make your own factory.wim..

Download the dell datasafe local backup or  u may be having.If u don't have download it from http://dslbchecker.datasafelocalbackup.com/dslchecker-en.html while installing it will create a partition.

I installed win7 ULTIMATE on Win7 home premium as home premium got corrupted. Now i AM trying to a factory image restore but unable to find image. Can i download it from somewhere or doo i need to reinstall window. HELP PLEASE

This will take you through direct clean installation of Windows 7 Ultimate retail upgrade after a secure wipe of the hard drive, updating Windows and installation of system drivers. Then product activation. Then finally installation of Dell Backup and Recovery to make a new internal recovery partition and new "factory settings".

What if we just purchased a new complete system and recieved no CD's includeing the restoration operating system CD. I was under the impression I paide for the license when I got the system so should have gotten the CD for WINDOWS 8 as well correct?  How do I get it since Dell never sent it
