XPS M2010
Hello,
I have a XPS-M2010 that the optical drive responds to no command. I press the eject button, it flashes about 9 times, but does not eject. I try to go to my computer and eject it, it still doesn't eject. try to run CD nothing. I replaced the optical drive, i replaced the entire top where the touch sensitive buttons are and still nothing. Any suggestions?
Thanks

Hi strokeyfighterpilot,
I'm looking at your tags and see "DVD will not recognize all my discs". If that's the case, I would run the Dell diagnostics on your drive from the F12 utility partition. When you boot to the diagnostics, the system is working outside the operating system environment. So that's a good test of whether you have a hardware or software problem.
You need to insert a disc to run the read test. If you are unable to open the drive to do so, then I suspect a hardware problem, possibly with the drive or its connection to the system.

Thanks Osprey, there is a disc in the drive, but lie I said it does nothing. I tried the dell diag. and still nothing. I did the full diag. and when it gets to the video test, it gets stuck on a orange screen and goes no further. I changed the optical drive 2 times and still nothing.
