My Dell Inspiron 660s wont turn on? HELP!

Ok well, I'm trying to make this short while going into detail. Anyways today i left to go and do some things and my PC was working fine i was downloading some things so I left it on. I came back (Couple hours later) and its off the screen is still on. so I go to turn on the PC and it doesn't power on. I try switching several new outlets but still nothing. so i take it apart and there was nothing burnt or anything. so i put it back together and still nothing. So i checked the little green light and it isn't even lit. Anything i could do?   Also its windows 8

Hi xgenmakers,

It can be upsetting when the laptop fails to power on. I suggest you to remove the static power that may be present by following the steps provided below:
1. Remove all the peripherals and cables connected to the back panel.
2. Press and hold the “Power” button for 20 seconds release it.
3. Reconnect all the cables and check if the system power  on.

Please let me know if you need further assistance.

The computer im using is a desktop. I also tried this though and it didn't help. Any other solutions? Another things is that the green light in the back doesnt come on so its not receiving power. I also tried another power cord and it didn't work either.

It sounds to me like your power supply is blown.

As you've tried a different power cable, and different wall sockets, and the motherboard's power status light isn't on, I'm practically certain.

It's not a massive job to sort out, so long as you get a compatible power supply. On the side of the power supply. I've been doing some research into it all, and can't seem to find a power supply to fit it, where it's a small form factor PC.

I suggest contacting Dell support to find out the cost on one, although it's usually cheaper to either buy one from either a stripped machine, on the likes of eBay or Amazon.

I hope that this information is of use to you.

I'm glad that my information was of assistance to you. Maybe I should apply to work for Dell tech support.. I do only live down the road from the head office!

But back on the right note, I'm glad your PC is now sorted properly, xgenmakers

The same problem happened to my Dell inspiron N5110. While I was playing game on it, it was plugged in bt suddenly shutted down and the status led on the adapter went off. However the adapter is working fine on other laptops. But now my laptop wont turn on ,wont charge,no light coming out of my laptop from anywhere. I removed the battery, charger and all peripherals, then pressed the power button for 3-4 min and then put everything back and tried again bt it wont start :emotion-6: ??? Please help.

I feel the smps is blown.  I need to buy one but I m unable to find one.  Please tell me from where can I buy one. I live in karanataka India.

I worked on one the issue was the power switch. Try opening the case then using a flat head screw driver on the pins that connect to the power switch. you can short the pins to turn on your PC....  This of course is something you can do to make sure the power switch works properly. I guess someone did not get a green light at all and for you if the PC is plugged in and the light does not turn on at all....chances are the Power Supply is bad (most likely)
