M1530 and Windows 8 pro

Hello,

I ahve a XPS m1530 running Windows 7 Pro ( quite happly :-) ).

I've run the Windows 8 upgrade assistant, and one of its finding is :-

"Your processor doesn't have NX turned on or might not support
NX
Setup will attempt to turn on NX during installation. If
your processor doesn't support NX, the installation will be cancelled and your
PC will roll back to the current OS."

my question is , does my M1530 HAVE NX to turn on in the first place ?
I dont want to spend the money on upgrading the OS, if the OS isnt going to "take".

my BIOS info is :-

        BIOS Version   DELL   - 27d80b13
        BIOS Date       11-19-08

Thanks for you help in advance, and Merry Christmas ;-)

Some processors do, and some don't -- you'll need to post the CPU model for someone to tell you.

You should be able to find it on one of the BIOS screens (f2 at powerup).

Yes, that processor does have execute disable bit technology.  Check the BIOS setup -- others have reported using Windows 8 on the m1530.  F2 at powerup.

In my Latitude D820 the setting is under Security > CPU XD Support.
