Fresh OME unable to register vCenter

Question

I have a Dell 2950 server that has ESXi 5.0 installed on it. It has been a while since I have logged in to check the health of it but I noticed that using the vSphere client the health has some alerts for 'Disk Drive Bay 1 Drive X: In Critical Array - Assert' status of Alert. I did some searching and saw that you either need to boot in to the RAID config to check drive health OR use Dell Open Managment so I downloaded Dell OME and got it up and running.   When I attempt to register my ESXi server it gives me the following message:   'An unknown exception has occurred and has been logged in the extended logs.'   I was trying with the root vCenter account and it was failing so I created a new account called 'dell' and gave it the Administrator permission. I can see if the logs where OME is making a successfuly connection to ESXi but thats where I'm stuck. I don't see anywhere in vCenter where there are extended logs and I don't see anywhere to access any logs/extended logs in OME. My ESXi has the default self signed SSL certificate an I'm not sure if this is an issue or not.   Any help is much appreciated

Hi there Nick.  Can you tell me what version of OME is showing in the About Box?  And let me know if you have the 1.1.1 patch on it as well. Thanks, Rob

Ni Nick,

The current version of OME is v1.1 or v1.1.1 if patched. So that build number looks a bit different. Can you let me know where you downloaded this version? latest is www.delltechcenter.com/ome.

Sure thing. The about box shows:

VERSION: 1.6.0, BUILD: 47

I don't know about the patch. I would assume not since I did not apply it. Let me know if thats BIOS, DRAC, etc and I'll check. Sorry for not knowing.

Well, it looks like I'm an idiot. I *thought* I was using OME but actually downloaded the Dell Managment Plugin for VMWare vCenter (marketing.dell.com/software-download). I'm going to go ahead and download the OME from your link and give it a shot.
