Dell xps L702x ram (3D)
Hi guys, I have decided to upgrade my dell xps ram, many people says that it support 16gb of ram (if it has 4 slots then 4 gb per slots and if it came with 2 slots 8gb per slot) the thing is that when I run the crucial scan http://www.crucial.com/systemscanner/ , it says that it can support a maximum of 8gb (4gb per slot).
What do you guys think? Is it accurate?
My laptop came with a really weird combination x) is 3D model but with 1gb nvidia gt550m (not 555m), i7 @2.00 Ghz ~2.9(turbo boost), what I've read is that 3D model comes with gt555m and with 4 memory slots (mine came with 2 slots, 4gb+2gb preinstalled)
So I want to know if my laptop would be capable to use 16gb of ram.

8GB is the official amount for 2 slots - 2 x 4GB
I've heard of users installing 2 x 8GB Corsair modules but I cannot confirm if it's guaranteed to work

Hi Josh2234,
XPS L702X supports DDR3 1066/1333 MHz SODIMM and it is capable of supporting a maximum of 16 GB.

All the reports I've heard say that only 3D systems with the higher spec 3GB GT555M comes with 4 slots on the mobo. You can try by all means to fit 2 x 8GB but I cannot guarantee it will work.

The only way you'd have received a 4-slot board is if you'd ordered the system with more than 8G from the factory.
Even those who ordered the highest-model 3D system with 8G or less received 2-slot boards.

This is incorrect.
My XPS L702X with GT 555, 3D, and 6GB of RAM came with 4 DIMM slots. I can upgrade to 32 GB when I want. I currently have 16GB. (4x 4GB)
