What is the current Firmware of your MD3000i? If the firmware is at 07.xx.xx.xx then you should be able to make the change on the fly without any issues. If your firmware is at 06.xx.xx.xx then it could reboot when you make the change.
Since you state that you can’t have any down time I would schedule some down time as in doing the change shouldn’t cause any issue. However there has been cases that when you make the change that the controller will reboot. I would say that if you could get about 1 hour of downtime should be enough to make the change. It should only take about 20 minutes but at 1hr it gives you enough time that if the controller reboots that it will come back up still during downtime window.
Please let us know if you have any other questions.
We did try to change the IP address of one of the managment ports and we get this:
1. Remove the storage array from the storage array drop down..
2. Re-add the storage array with the updated IP address..
As Robert have said this is SAN in a production enviorment and we want to be very carefull here, and we dont to change anything with the current configuration, so whitch option should we choose? and what should we do witout effecting the data on this device.
problem has been solved, we did install the mangment station on a different server then run an automatic discovery of the array and now every thing working.
