SM Bus Controller driver installation

PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_1E22&SUBSYS_053D1028&REV_04
PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_1E22&SUBSYS_053D1028
PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_1E22&CC_0C0500
PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_1E22&CC_0C05

Those are the hardware IDs for the SM Bus Controller. I have a Code 28 saying the drivers aren't installed and the yellow exclamation mark in the device manager. Any help on what I need to download? I believe I've downloaded most of the drivers for my service tag, but some of them didn't work (like the Broadcom card... however, windows was able to install their own drivers that work).

So I downloaded Hard-Drive-ST-MICRO_FFS-LNG3DM_A06_V6681_setup_ZPE.exe which corresponds to "ST Microelectronics Free Fall Data Protection Driver  (Driver) ". Which I am positive I did once before. While installing, it told me I had a program conflict and had to uninstall Acceleramator 3.006 or something like that. That program was installed in one of my previous attempts to fix this problem. So I uninstalled it, tried it again, and now it appears to have cleared the yellow exclamation mark. I have no idea how I ended up downloading the wrong version, because I don't feel like I did anything different this time around. Anyway, thanks for your time.

Hi Blotest,

Please install the chipset drivers. Those should be installed first. If you need more help, please provide the model of your Dell and operating system.

Here are all of the drivers for that model. Select your operating system, then download the Intel chipset driver and install it.

That solved that issue, but maybe this is another problem completely. I have another yellow in device manager.

Unknown Device:

ACPI\SMO8810
*SMO8810

Also the ST Micro Accelerometer is also yellow.  (Is there an easier way that I don't know about to update dell drivers? The list of 85 drivers for my laptop is hard to navigate. Thanks for your help so far. I really do appreciate it!

Any help with those two?

I also found I had to install the trackpad drivers, not because the default drivers weren't working, but because I couldn't figure out how to turn off tap to click. Is there anything else I am missing? I think I installed most of the important stuff, but obviously I missed 1 or 2 things. I guess if I go to use one of the ports or smart card readers in a few months and it doesn't work, I'll know I missed something. Audio and video works. Wireless worked out the box, even though I spent 30 minutes trying to download and install the dell/broadcom drivers (and kept getting error messages, only to find windows already had a default driver that worked)

But mainly, this is a bump.

I think that is the motion sensor for the hard drive.

I'm thinking the problem was that the chipset driver needed to be installed first. Anyway, good to hear you're up and running.
