What cables for h310 and r720

I have installed an h310 controller in my r720. The cable installed on the backplane goes directly into the motherboard and is wider than the ports on the h310. I was wondering if someone could confirm that the P110m cable is the correct cable for this application. Thanks in advance. -shane

NTShane,

The cable needed for the R720 with a H310 is the MX3P7 cable. It is the backplane to motherboard cable assembly for the 3.5 chassis..

The P110M cable was for an earlier generation server, the R710 server with an H700 controller.

Let me know if this helps.

I did have one question on this though.  The H310 has ports on it, but the MX3P7 is a 'backplane to motherboard' cable.  Is it correct that the cable plugs into the motherboard and not the ports on the card?  if so, I am questioning whether I need a new cable.  I have a server that came with no card installed (internal software raid), but had a cable going from backplane to motherboard already.

Do I need the cable?

Thanks again,

-shane

Sorry to bump this, I found out that the MX3P7 is actually the cable I already have.  I my understanding correct that this is the only cable I should need (that is, that there is no need to plug any cables into the h310 itself)?  If so, I must have mis-configured something, because the drives (I've tried several) don't show up in the system (raid bios).

Thanks in advance,
