This shows how to install, from what I can tell, OME on a centralized server.  How do you get the clients to report their information?  And I'm talking both servers (2012 R2) and workstations (7 & 8.1).

Thanks.

Just noticed that you are looking to manage servers and workstations, rather than clients (got confused with your initial question).

OME hugely depends on information provided by Server administrator agent available on servers. if it is not installed on them in your case, you can download it from this forum: en.community.dell.com/.../1760

Again, to manage Windows based machine, discovering them using SNMP and WMI protocols is the way to go. Please refer following white papers depending upon the need:

1. Mass deployment of Server Administrator: en.community.dell.com/.../20069180

2. Monitoring servers: en.community.dell.com/.../20061812

3. Updating servers (firmware and drivers): en.community.dell.com/.../20217144

Hope this finally helps :)

Hi JR, thanks for the follow on query.

First of all, I would like to introduce you to Dell Command | Monitor. It is the agent (somewhat similar to Server Administrator we have for servers) which can be installed on client systems and is responsible for providing data through various protocols to management stations like OME. You can download its various flavors (x86 and x64) from this forum: en.community.dell.com/.../7531.dell-command-monitor

Once DCM is installed on all the client systems, you can discover them using SNMP and WMI protocols. WMI is the recommended protocol for discovering clients in OME. While configuring a discovery range, select WMI and provide applicable administrative credentials. As soon as the clients get discovered, they will get classified in OME device tree - Manage --> Devices --> All Devices --> Clients. There is a white paper written with more details specifically on support for Dell client devices in OME: en.community.dell.com/.../20218168

Hope this helps in enabling you to manage client devices with OME. Please update us if you face any issues.
