Amber Light
Recently purchased Dell XPS 8700 when powered up and powered down has an amber coloured light seen through the mesh at bottom of the PC. Only way to turn it off is by removing power connection.
Is this an indicator that something is wrong with the PC?

No it's fine. That light stays on when the computer is plugged in. As long as a computer is plug in to an outlet, it is never completely Off. That's why you need to have surge protection like a UPS unit to protect from electrical surges or storms.
