R720 PSU FW problem Delta 750W PSU Version 09.2B.80 -- possible bug in FW update
Hi All,
Just wanted to mention that there may be an issue with this installer. The firmware version states that it is supposed to be version 09.2B.80. I have applied the update to several R720s and see that the version that is applied is 07.2B.80. So every time the update is applied the Lifecycle controller thinks it needs updating. Just thought I would share this with everyone in case they come across it.

This is a known issue I have just come across myself.
I have spoken with a Dell tech support agent, and they still have yet to resolve this issue. I was trying to update the firmware on my R730 with the same PSUs listed above, from 07.2B.7D to the latest (09.2B.80). When I attempted to do this through the Lifecycle Controller (connecting to Dell's ftp site), it would fail. After completing the download, the server would shut down. It is supposed to take 6-20 minutes for the PSU update to finish, and then it will boot back up on its own. However, my R730 would not boot up on its own. I would need to turn it back on, and would find each time that my firmware version (07.2B.7D) had not changed. My server was also stuck in a loop, automatically booting into the Lifecycle Controller upon reboot each time.
In order to update, I needed to get the firmware updates ISO file (from a Dell rep [for the R720 here]). I burned the ISO to a DVD, and booted off of it. It will cycle through all of the system updates. Once you reboot the machine, it will go into the Lifecycle Controller and finish the update, reboot your machine, stay off for about 15 minutes for the PSU update to finish, and then reboot.
Upon successful update, the version listed will be as Nick said above, 07.2B.80. After speaking with a Dell technician, this is the latest. 09.2B.80 is a mislabeling. So even though the Lifecycle Controller says there is a newer version, 07.2B.80 is the latest.
Hope this helps anyone who has had similar issues/confusion.
