Geting "Session Disconnected" when connecting

Geting "Session Disconnected" when connecting

I've installed PocketCloud on my iPad2 and Windows Companion on my home PC. My home PC shows as a "discovered connection" on the iPad. When I try to connect, the Wyse logo says "Loading..." for about 15 seconds and then "Session Disconnected".

I have WinRAR VNC on the PC so TightVNC didn't automatically install. I manually installed it to see if that would help (it didn't). Both TightVNC and Windows Companion have system tray icons and seem to be running correctly.

The home PC sits behind a Linksys firewall/router w/ a static IP. In the routing table, I forwarded all port 5900 traffic to the PC I want to connect to. The home PC is running AVG Free antivirus.

Any suggestions as to where I could start looking? Tx

Jack

Hi Morton, Is loop connection enabled on tightvnc?

Yes. Loop Connection is enabled on TightVNC. I've verified I am logged into the gmail account when I try to connect. The PC uses XP Pro - should I be connecting with VNC or RDP? Both VNC and RDP are listed as discovered connections but when I try to connect with RDP, it immediately goes to an "Upgrade to PocketCloud Pro" box. If I select No Thanks, it cancels the connection - Is RDP not included as part of the free version of PocketCloud?

Also, I reran the install setup and noticed a red X on Configuring Firewall. The only way to proceed was to select Skip after I got thru the logon to my gmail account. This is likely the source of my connection problems. What can I do to correct this?

Also, should I be port forwarding 3389?

Hi Morton, You seem to be using the free app. Free app only lets you connect to one connection(topmost).
Inorder to connect to multiple computers we will need to upgrade app.
Thank you!

OK, for now I'll only connect to one computer. HOWEVER, I can't connect to even one. If this works, I'd be happy to buy the Pro version, but until then it makes no sense to buy something that doesn't work. I'll re-copy the relevant parts of the answer to your first question:

Update to post

I have corrected the firewall configuration problem, traffic on ports 3389 and 5900 is being forwarded to the PC I want to connect to, RDP is enabled, A/V is disabled, loop connection is enabled in TightVNC and I'm logged onto the gmail account when I'm trying to connect. I am still getting a "Session Disconnected" error.

This appears to be a wonderful tool and I am looking forward to buying the Pro version, but I've spent a week trying to get it to work to no avail. If I can't make progress soon, I'll just look at other tools.

OK - I've officially given up

I've been trying to get this to work for two weeks and gotten no where. To try and solve this by looking at what others have done, I browsed through the most recent 30 or 40 threads. All have the same look and feel: after a day or two, the support person asks for a piece of technical information. When that is supplied, more information is requested. In MANY cases, what is being asked for was requested and supplied earlier in the thread. Instructions for corrective action seem to be rare and in my case, earlier thread responses document that I've already done what is being suggested.

This looks like a tremendous tool and I had hoped to deploy the PRO version at work to a number of people. But, support like this would never cut it in a business environment. There are other tools out there that provide this functionality so I'll look at one of them.

Hi Nick,Moton Can you please make sure the vnc server is installed and running on desktop?
If this is not running, please install vnc, start the vnc app and relogin on the companion.
Thank you!

Hi Morton, Are you on 3g or wifi ?
Is your tightvnc running in service mode or application mode?
Please run the vnc in application mode , It works well with our software.

Same here. Firewall is opened up for ports, programs & services. Both remote and Companion programs are the most current available. Just in case, the AV program has been disabled. The router is passing traffic on both ports. The program is still trying to connect for about 20 seconds and then errors out w/ "Session Disconnected".

If the above steps are all good please do look into the firewall settings.
control panel-firewall-allow program option.
Please make sure rdp and tightvnc is enabled there.
Thank you!

I have the same problem, and have followed the steps outlined in this post, but still have issues.

The only difference is that i'm running Vista Home.

Looking forward to the next step in troubleshooting...... please?
