Win 7 update KB3035583

MS must be getting desperate. They're pushing "important" update KB3035583, which installs Get Windows 10 app in Windows 8.1 and Windows 7 SP1.

"This update installs the Get Windows 10 app, which helps users understand their Windows 10 upgrade options and device readiness...

Who cares? :emotion-4:

Ron,

The phrase "Windows XP Mode" referred to an option, available on Win7 Professional, to include an embedded WinXP Virtual Machine http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/8247-windows-xp-mode-install-setup.html

That VM --- running as a complete WinXP desktop --- included IE8.

And that's what I thought you were referring to.

Now I see you're just saying Win10 can run (some) older programs in XP compatibility mode.

Sorry about the confusion.

I care because the windows 10 update was like a drive by install.

Windows 10 has a number of "troubling" features like Peer to Peer windows updates to COMPUTERS ON THE INTERNET.
Built in Keylogger "to better enhance your search experience".

"Sample Submission" of files on your drive sent to microsoft.

Lots of other "cant turn off or remove"
"Features"

Does Windows 10 really have a keylogger in it? Yes.

So that "Bank card numbers, website credentials and other search experiences can be enhanced."

The license agreement even mentions this specifically: “we may collect typed characters and use them for purposes such as improving autocomplete and spellcheck features.”

Microsoft can theoretically see everything you type in the Windows 10.

Even if they aren't spying now hackers could figure out how to compromise this and get data from your machine.

“Microsoft collects information about you, your devices, applications and networks, and your use of those devices, applications and networks. Examples of data we collect include your name, email address, preferences and interests; browsing, search and file history; phone call and SMS data; device configuration and sensor data; and application usage.”

"Sensor Data" aka we take pictures of you and listen to your microphone. purely for speech process improvement."

“We may collect information about your device and applications and use it for purposes such as determining or improving compatibility” and “use voice input features like speech-to-text, we may collect voice information and use it for purposes such as improving speech processing.” collecting your voice, video, your chats etc."

“If you open a file, we may collect information about the file, the application used to open the file, and how long it takes any use [of]it for purposes such as improving performance, or [if you]enter text, we may collect typed characters, we may collect typed characters and use them for purposes such as improving autocomplete and spell check features.”

The above said input recording methods are a classic keylogger malware features.

It takes only a few minutes to review settings and simply opt out as you would from a similar Customer Experience Improvement Program in Windows 7/8, or an OEM program such as Dell Experience Improvement Program.
