How to disable Inspiron 15 touchpad

Can anyone teach me how to disable Inspiron 15 touchpad?

I had tried many way but still failed to disable it. 

Currently I am using window 8.

There are many Inspiron 15 models from Dell. Please reply us with the exact system model so that I can check and assist you.

I only know the bottom of the laptop is written inspiron 15 , or any other way i can know what is my laptop model?

Hi peipanyaki,

You have the Dell Inspiron 3542. To enable and disable the touchpad please follow the steps mentioned below.

  1. Please connect an external USB mouse on the system.

  2. Double click the Touchpad icon in the system tray

  3. Disable it on the application window by clicking Touchpad On/Off.

Please remove the picture from the previous post as this would violate Dell customer privacy policy.

Hi, when you say system tray means the right bottom part of the desktop right?

if i am right, I cannot find the touchpad icon in the system tray. 

Please refer to the screen shot below

By the way, may I know why it's Inspiron 3542 and the sticker on my laptop is Inspiron 15?

Hi peipanyaki,

I would suggest you to go into the control panel and click open the Mouse to check if Touchpad properties screen come up so that you perform steps provided in the previous post
