Request advice : 1T HDD 7200RPM or 1T SSHD Hybrid Hard Drive for DELL M2800 Workstation

Dear Sirs,

I am Haithem, Electronics Engineer !

I’ll buy a DELL Mobile Workstation M2800, but before lunching Order I need your advice concerning the choice of the hard disk !

I am confused between

1)    1TB Hybrid 2.5in, SATA3 with 8GB SSD Flash Hard Drive.

2)    1TB 2.5" SATA (7,200 RPM) Hard Drive.

(Note: I ignored the choice of SSD because it exceeds my budget)

On the Dell website the exact references of discs are not mentioned so I can’t compare performances!

Can you please give me your advice to make the right choice?

Below you may find Additional information :

  • I’ll use the M2800 WorkStation in:

-       Word, Excel, PPT, MicrosoftVisio…

-       Electronic design automation EDA like Altium Designer, Cadence (OrCAD, Pspice, Allegro PCB design), Electronic Simulation...

-       3D Design Software like Solidworks, CATIA to integrate 3D case with 3D electronics Board, 3D simulation….

  • Preliminary configuration:

Hi Haithem,

The hybrid drive will give you slightly better performance and faster boot time. Please take a look at this article for an explanation of the differences.

Good luck with the new laptop!
