Power Supply swap Precision T3500 with T5xxx

Is it possible to swap out the 525W PSU in my Precision T3500 Workstation with an 875W PSU from a Precision T5xxx Workstation?  If so, will I have to swap out the wiring harness as well?

If the harness has to be swapped out, do all the motherboard connectors match up with my T3500?  Thank you.

The T3500, T5500, T7500 all used the same 875w power supply J556T. So it should be fine.

Unknown. You are just going to have to open them up and compare. The pictures provided of the 3500 and 5500 look like the connectors are the same.

Ah.  Thank you.  That eases my mind.  Maybe a bit more clarification if you don't mind.

1) Same power connectors on the 875W harness so they match the motherboard headers?

2) Would the existing 525W harness match up with the 875W PSU's socket if I decided to leave the old harness in place?

For the record in case anyone else comes across this thread, the Dell Precision 875W PSU fits like a glove in the 3500 case.  Even the factory harness for the 875W is identical in cable lengths.

Thanks DELL-Chris M

1) Does anyone know how the five 18A rails are split up?

2) Does anyone know of a user group forum for the Dell Precision Workstation?
