Dell Inspiron 5555, Not powering on.

Hi, My Dell Inspiron 5555 is not powering on. I have just closed it with out shutting down and tried to power on it after 7 hrs then it is not starting, the Charging LED on the front edge of the laptop is not glowing when the power cable is connected. I have looked up in the google and tried to remove the "static flea", but did not work. This happened few months ago and I tried the same technique, which worked back then. But now it did not work  for the first few times, after 2 or 3 attempts, the laptop turned on only with power cable and battery removed state. Then I properly shutdown the laptop and connected the battery and try to turn it on but it did not turn on. And I did few more attempts to remove static flea, but the laptop is not working. Battery and AC adapter charger both are working with another Dell laptop when switched.

Hi MIDHUN ANNE,

Are you using an original Dell OEM Adapter? When you plug in the adapter to the system, does the adapter stay firm or does it fall off easily? Is the adapter frayed? Is there any damage on the system? Could you test with another power adapter if possible?

Does the adapter led stay on and stable or does it go off when connected to the system?

Please check if there is any damage on the machine. Check if all the ports on the machine are fine or misaligned. Sometimes if the pins in the USB ports are touching each other, they are known to cause many issues on the machine.

Press and hold the fn key + power button to turn on the system and it should initiate the diagnostics - check for any possible beep codes.

Does the power button come on and stay on or does it go off after few seconds?

Download the service manual - http://dell.to/2q7vwyB- disconnect the memory modules / HDD and check if the system responds.

If nothing works, then I would suspect a motherboard fault.

If there is no warranty, then you could contact our team to get a quote for a paid service call - http://dell.to/1vnT6CQ

Also, please click my DELL-username and write me a private message with the service tag and your Name for case records.

Let us know if you have any other queries.

I have checked with my friends laptop (Dell) charger and also switching batteries both of them worked on my friends laptop but , my friend's charger and battery were also not working on my laptop. The led does not light up even when the charger is connected. Adapter when plugged into the port stays intact. The laptop has a small crack on the plastic covering near the charger port. I have contacted Dell customer care and the person after asking me to troubleshoot and knowing that it doest work, told me to send the laptop to a desugnated Dell servuce centre and scheduled a dispatch, and yes I have warranty Thank you for.your response. Appreciate it.

Hi MIDHUN ANNE,

Thank you for the update.

Hopefully, the issue will be resolved after the service depending on the warranty on the machine.
