dell r710 membist failure after esxi upgrade

so.. I just picked up a r710 from ebay and I got it running and tested some stuff al working great. I installed esxi 6.0 with the drivers from dell and I looked around for a bit and decided to upgrade to 6.5 by the ssh terminal.

After that finished I rebooted and man did it take long to boot. First I waited like 30 mins on the "booting eufi please wait" screen and then it got stuck for like 2 hours on the "Entering system services... Starting unified server configuration" screen and I decided to shut it down. After more atempts to get it working (didn't change anything) just trying to install another os i began getting ram errors "membist failure" and i got only 36GB ram left. Then I also saw it was only running at 800 mhz.

What is going on?!?! can somebody tell me wat to do?

Hi,

Does it say which DIMM is being disabled during post? You should also update the BIOS and lifecycle controller. Pressing F10 during post and doing platform updates is the easiest way to do this. After that if it is still giving the memory error, swap the dimm to the other processor if it is a dual processor configuration, or a different slot and see if the error moves.

Hi,

Did you manage to fix this? I have a similar issue where I upgraded my R710 server with Esxi 6 u3.

After upgrade is Get member DIMM error on A1 , A4 and A7.

Please help!

Many thanks,

Pavan
