When/how to use Dell WinPE drivers in MDT?

Hi,

I'm wondering what's the proper use of the Dell WinPE drivers in MDT. Since there are already WinPE drivers in MDT, I'm not sure what the purpose of the Dell WinPE packs is. We are a Dell shop (with a few Surfaces, and other minor exceptions), so at this point I'm pretty much only deploying Dell machines running Win10. It's my understanding that adding more drivers to the WinPE folder in MDT can make the deployment take longer due to there being more drivers to download. So, if it makes it take longer, and there are already WinPE drivers in MDT, why would I want to add the Dell WinPE pack to MDT? If I definitely should, is there a proper way to use them in MDT, other than just dumping them in the folder? Thanks!

The obvious reason for adding vendor drivers to WinPE is because WinPE doesn't have the drivers for new hardware.  Prior to Win10 the time gap between updates to WinPE was significant so adding those vendor drivers was a critical step.  With updates to the ADK (WinPE) coming faster, it may not be as critical but if new systems ship and a new version of WinPE is not available, then you will have to add drivers to support them.

The time impact to adding WinPE drivers should be minimal compared to the other actions typically done during OS Deployment.
