DELL XPS 8910 SSD UPGRADE AS BOOT DRIVE

Hello All,

I recently purchased my Dell XPS 8910 in a local store, after several weeks of usage I decided to move forward and perform an upgrade so I purchased a new SSD. What I tried to do is to set the new SSD as a BOOT drive and the OEM hard drive as a storage drive. I already did the disc image so all the programs, OS and files are already copied into the SSD, however I feel very frustrated since I am unable to set the new SSD as a BOOT drive on the DELL UEFI BIOS, I am unable to select the bootable drive, with the factory settings I am only able to see the factory installed HD, I have tried to move settings on the UEFI BIOS but I started to have a big mess...so the question here is...Does anybody here has an idea on how can I make my new SSD the bootable drive with this UEFI BIOS? I know with some other BIOS versions is more easy to perform this change between master and slave, but in this very DELL version I am scratching my head and find no answers..

Please help!

Thanks

I don't think the Youtube videos will not answer your question. I will assume you cloned your hard drive to the SSD. If you press F12 on boot up you can select either the SSD or the HDD. With the UEFI BIOS, to make the SSD your boot drive you need to disconnect your OEM hard drive. To make the HDD a storage drive you need to press F12 to boot the SSD and then use the Command Prompt and diskpart to re-initialize the HDD. Make sure you are booting up from the SSD and re-initializing the HDD. Formatting the HDD with Disk Management is not enough. Also in the BIOS, you should set the SATA mode to AHCI (instead of RAID). The Command Prompt commands are:

diskpart

list disk (note the number of the HDD)

select disk 1 (or 0 depending on the number of the HDD)

clean, convert gpt

create quick fs=ntfs

assign

exit
