Alienware M15x Battery not charging issue

Okay, so --

This laptop is about two and a half years old now, everything except for some extra RAM that I threw in a year and a half ago is factory.  About two weeks ago, I turned on my computer to get a message telling me that the power cable is not the one sent with the laptop -- which it absolutely was.  So, after receiving that message I saw that the battery was no longer charging.  Checking the wattage in the BIOS, it says unknown.  Since then I have tried the following steps --

-Unplug the power adapter and the battery, let it sit for 45 minutes before plugging it back in.

-Unplug the power adapter and the battery, hold the power button for 30 seconds (And longer, just in case) before plugging it back in.

-While it is plugged in, remove the battery, wait for a few minutes, and ease the battery back in.

-Uninstall the battery drivers to force Windows to reinstall them.

-Updated my BIOS (I was on A06, got up to A08 but A09 doesn't seem to have one that works with my 64-bit version of Windows Ultimate.  (This was a just in case act)

-Purchased a new power adapter from Amazon and tried it.  (Says 130W in the BIOS)

The only thing I can think of (and/or found on the internet) is to completely drain the battery of life and then try to charge it, but I figure that is risky at best, as I currently only have 29% battery life and if the cable comes unplugged while I'm working on a program (I'm a student in college), then I can lose a lot of work.

So, does anyone have any ideas?  I would really like to not buy a new battery unless I have to -- and even then I am not sure if that would solve anything.

Hi mindofender,

Do you get the same error regarding the adapter not recognized with the new adapter?

This can be an issue with the DC port(Power port) on the computer. I would request you to private message me the service tag, owners name and contact number on the account. I would review your account and take the case forward.

I have added you as a friend. Please accept my friend request by clicking on my name highlighted in blue and then click on “Friends” tab at the top and then click on “Request to Review” and finally click on “Accept” button.

I am sending you a private message as well. Click on “Inbox” to respond to the message and provide system’s Service Tag and contact details so I may access your system records and check for further course of action. You could also click on Start Conversation to send a private message.

Awaiting your response!
