My Alienware won't start

Hello.

Yesterday I played some games whit my new computer. Today morning it won't start when I'm pressing the start-button. Just a dim on the button and I can hear the motor trying to start up but turns of like a car. This computer is less than 1 month old. And I want to know if it can be overheating problems? Please help.

Which model Alienware? One thing you might try is. Unplug the power from the wall. Hold down the power button for about 30 seconds. Plug the power back in and try it again. If the computer is only a month old, it's still under warranty so you could  give Alienware support a call. The couple times I have called them I always got a tech that knows what they are talking about and speak and understand English very well.

As Wayne said try a cable unplug and hold the start button down to drain any remaining voltage so it will clear your computer into thinking the button means shut down.

Another thing you can do is look near your AC power supply (where you plug the power cable into the PC) and press the button under a green light (right of the cable), note that I just checked on my own Alienware and I only worked with supplies that had a switch that I just had to flick on and off rather than a button.

Worst case scenario ; a power spike could have fried one of the components. But that is unlikely but if it is you still have warranty.

Hi Johan,

Checkout this troubleshooting guide for the X51. On section # 7, you can watch some videos for this problem. If this behavior persists, let me know through a private message.

Worked for me - does anyone know what this does?  Is this a sign of future PSU problems?
