In Alienware Command Center I'm seeing the message "The battery is not being charged"

I'm having a battery issue on my Mx14 in which it's plugged in, but wont charge.  I'm following these steps but when I hit Fn+F2, I don't see how to check if my battery charging is disabled or not.

I see a blue plug image with a yellow warning symbol on it, which gives the message " The battery is not being charged" when moused over...but no "battery charging enabled" or something to that respect.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Hi,

Which BIOS version are you running with your system? If you have more than 10% left on the battery, you can try flashing the BIOS to the latest version, you can download the BIOS firmware from the Dell support site.

How old is your system?  It is possible there's an internal fault within the battery, of which would automatically cause it to prevent itself from charging.

With the system plugged in, power on the system while holding down the FN key which will cause it to auto boot into diagnostics.  When you get to the main diagnostics screen, cancel the full scan that auto started, select the battery, and click full test.  Once finished, it should present you with a few percentage numbers, something to the effect of capacity charged, and so forth.  One of the values will tell you how much of the battery is physically able to be charged, as this lowers in percentage the older, and more used, a battery becomes.
