Hi,

Is this a 17x R1?

I don't think it will be related to the Bios. Try running a CPU stress test using the Support Assist tool to check how high the CPU temperature goes. If you do not have Support Assist installed in your computer, click here for the download link. Follow the steps below to run the stress test.

  • Download and install Dell Support Assist
  • Open Dell Support Assist
  • Click Checkup
  • Click Scan a Specific Device
  • Click System Devices
  • Select the CPU Stress Test and Run it. This Test will load the CPU and Ram to 100% and test it. It will make enough heat to determine if the processor is overheating or not.

Let me know how it goes!

Hi there! Im discharting possibilities.

Acctualy is when im going on the strees test of the suport assist  on the cpu that the laptop shutsdown. Ive being monitoring the temperature, it didnt superate te 81º and shut.  My bet was there, so i put an extra cooler to lower it and done it, but even in 71º shuts down. The max acording intel its 100º for the q9100.

Ive belive that its not termic issue, perhaps of power. My energy source its of 19,5 v and 12,3 amp, and in the manual says tha the amperage should be 12,31.

Could that 1 mamp diference be the problem? Its my best guess, on the understanding that the power consuption of the processor its almost the double of the p8600.

Thanks again!

Have you changed something else, like the video card?
