When using original spinning HDD for OS, does BIOS and Windows detect 840 on the next port?

Try original spinning HDD o every port to test motherboard and all cables.

Have you tried 840 in another machine or external USB enclosure? Ever see it work in anything?

Do you think 840 having a problem with SATA-2 port backwards compatibility?

Ok,figured out that the 2.5 to 3.5 adapter was bad were it conected ssd....

Now bios see ssd....

When I start to install windows on it it shows only 465.8 gig on the drive.....Its a 500gig

1. Is there stuff on the drive I need to delete before I install windows?

2. Or is that right and just start install of windows...

Seems like alot of gigs not showing.....If drive has partition of stuff not needed would rather delete first....

Thanks for your help Tesla1856!
