Dell R610, Perc 6/i SSD SATA drive slow speed
Hello,
Before buying an SSD for the server I've tried to use SSD from my notebook:
SSD disk (TRANSCEND 2.5" SSD370S 128 gb SATA III MLC TS128GSSD370S) has speed at my notebook 350-400 MB/s.
I installed it to the Perc 6/i of R610. No any other disks in the bay.
All the server's firmware is up to date for 100% (bios 6.5.0, etc).
Configured RAID-0. Installed the system (i tried Windows, Linux, ESXI). Everywhere the speed is 100 MB/s at the start of copying and get slower down to 60 MB/s during the process. While when I used to have 4xSAS 15k in RAID-10 the speed was 150-180 MB/s.
Of course, maybe it is because this SSD is not Dell-approved, but maybe there are some tweaks I could make to speed it up?
And by the way, could you tell me please, where can I find actual info with dell-approved SSD-s?
For example, will a Intel SSD 545s Series SATA 512gb have a 250 MB/s speed at least? Or maybe SSD Intel DC S3520 fits?
Thank you.

Thank for the service tag.
The SSD you are testing with is not validated for the R610 and the performance cannot be certified. In addition, the drive is not an enterprise drive and not intended for use in a server.
Please let me know the size, type (SAS or SATA), preferred make and I can see what is available.

It would be perfect you tell two variants
SAS-SSD 128gb - 2 pcs.
and
SATA-SSD 240gb - 2 pcs.
The point is we have already 4xHDD SAS 15K 146gb for the server. They work fine. And we would like to keep them running and add 2 SSDs. But as I read the specification we have choice to mix SAS and SATA with some restrictions: 2 SAS disk into the 1st and 2nd bay, and 4 SATAs into the 3d to 6th bays. So if we want to use 6 disk we need to buy 2pcs SAS-SSDs. Or, if we buy 2pcs SATA-SSD we have to deny of 2pcs SAS HDD, from those 4 we've got.
If I get it right, could you tell some models for each variants I mentioned above?
Thank you!

Hi,
Bays 1 & 2 need to be SAS as noted. Bays 3-6 can be SAS or SATA. 2 SSDs can be added without having to remove 2 of the existing SAS drives. SAS and SATA drives can both be used, but can't be in the same virtual drive.
Hope that answers your question.

It's all clear now. Thank you.
Could you tell 2-3 models of SATA-SSD-240gb suitable for our server nowadays?
