Windows 7 on Poweredge R230

I am trying to install Windows 7 on a R230 but have been unsuccessful. Once the installation begins I no longer have use of the keyboard or mouse. I also tried to insert a hard drive with and image of Windows 7 from an R220 but that is also failing (rebooting computer) as soon as the windows splash screen pops up. Any suggestions?

Probably needs USB 3.0 drivers loaded.

Windows 7 isn't supported on servers. That doesn't mean it won't work, but you may run into strange issues, and you should not EXPECT it to work.

User 2008 R2 drivers when needed.

Why not install a supported OS on the hardware then run Windows 7 as a virtual machine?

There is only one piece of software we need to run on this machine and it only runs on Windows 7. It is for a standalone location.

Still not sure why you don't run it as a VM … or why on a server for that matter. They make the Precision rackmount machines for that reason.
