Raid 5 across two enclosures on cx4-120?

Hi,

When I use navi to define my RAID-5 groups I noticed the recommended 5 disk configs suggested by the gui span across two enclosures? I am guessing it just goes and calculates the next five available disks. Is this wise to do? I know with raid 1_0, the cli is used to balance the data and mirrors across two enclosures, but what about RAID-5?

Thank you!

The CX4-120 is a single bus CLARiiON. You cannot recieve any of the benefits of distributing RAID groups across buses on that model because all enclosures (DAEs) are on the same bus. That is, putting your disks on separate enclosures on that model CLARiiON is the same performance-wise as provisioning them in the same enclosure.
