Does the VMAX support dynamic sparing ?

There is found the only description of Permanent Sparing in VMAX product guide. Does  the VMAX also support Dynamic Sparing, too or Not ?

V-max supports both options 1.Traditional approach of replacing the and re-copying data from hotspare 2.Permenant sparing.

Need to specify when the Bin was configured..CE can configures this either way.

Hi Srichev, Can you tell me where you got that info from?  It should be corrected.  Dynamic sparing does not exist in V-Max, only permanent sparing. Mike

if a permanent spare is  not available which can fit the alogorithem(protection scheme) then spare will not be invoked at all?

My experience with VMAx is a drive will fail and most of the time  'not' invoke to a spare.   The support center is suppose to dial and invoke the perm spare and dispatch the CE to replace the failed drive.
