Restore / Recover with unlicensed NetWorker ?
Customer has a leased NSR environment and has to return both server and licenses after lease period.
She will only keep cartridges and meta data.
Will it be possible to restore data from an unlicensed (temporary) server, given a drive is at hand?

Yes if drive is attached to backup serves (recover using remote storage nodes won't work as that still requires license).

Hi Mr. Crevelin,
nice to see you still working with NetWorker stuff.
If I remenber correctly, we met in Hamburg at EDEKA, a dozen years ago.
Thanks for your support.

Hi Stefan... yeah, I believe so Nice to meet you again. Since last summer I'm more hooked to Farmville than NetWorker, but I blame last year summer vacation for that. Have no idea what to expect after vacation this year - probably back to NetWorker

Perhaps to clarify and emphasize - if licenses are returned it is the Drive that needs to be directly attached to backup server.
Autochanger functionality is blocked without adequate license, so be prepared for manual mounting...

Hi sgt, The short answer is Yes (it is possible to restore data from an unlicensed (temporary) server, given a drive is at hand)
To avoid complications, ensure that the temporary server has the same name has the original server that created the backups.
If the original client is unavailable, you can create a "dummy" record in the Host file and direct the recovery to s differnt host or to the NW server itself.
Hope this helps.
