VMAX into HP OpenView Operations
Does anybody have experience of integrating VMAX into HP OVO for alerting without using ECC?
It it possible at all?

vSerg, yes, you can do this. The Solutions Enabler event daemon (storevntd) has the ability to sned traps to an SNP server such as OpenView. You can set up the target for events in the daemon_options file as well as configure the events you want to monitor.

The Solutions Enabler installation guide also has a section on configuring the event daemon and an appendix on the asynchronous events that can be monitored.
