How to access Unisphere in Windows 8.1?
Hi, I upgraded to Windows 8.1 and I am having a hard time accessing Unisphere through Google Chrome or IE 11.
In Google Chrome It will start to load and you will see the Unisphere title screen after telling the Java prompts to run the app. However after this screen it goes away and its just a blue background. There's no box drawn in the browser to enter credentials and log in.
Then I tried IE 11 and it takes me to this page:

A minimum of JRE 1.6.0 is required for this application.
If you have a version greater than 1.6.0_13, please refer to the Release Notes to verify compatibility.

Install Plugin
If I click Install Plugin, nothing happens. There is no plugin download or anything.
Seems like Java 7u45 is installed but it only works with Chrome, and no Java is installed for IE11.
Should I try Firefox, Opera or Safari?

if you install windows 8.1 x64 version, try install both versions of java x86 and x64. if it not help try to install latest release of java 1.6 version. And i use Firefox of course

Ok you guys are awesome.
So I have Firefox 25 (wow they are in rapid release mode!) and I will use that for Unisphere.
What I did is remove all Java versions on the system because I wanted to start fresh. I removed
Java 7 update 45
Java 6 update 13
Java 6 update 19 (x64).
Now over at oldversion.com I was able to get older version of Java prior to 7 (thats where I tried the 6u13 and 6u19 from earlier). I got the last version they had listed for Java 6 which was update 33. I downloaded both the 32-bit and 64bit.
I first installed Java 6 update 33 64-bit.
Next I installed Java 6 update 33 32-bit (i586 is in the file name).
Finally fired up firefox 25 and I was able to get right into Unisphere!

Thanks, I tried that link on my laptop (which was also recently upgraded to Windows 8.1). I was able to use my oracle.com credentials and download Java 6 u43. One note about that site, you have to rename the download and add the .exe so Windows will recognize it as an application and run it.
Anyway Java 6 u43 works with Firefox 25 as well. There's just a few extra "first time nags" compared to update 33, but after you get through and add all your exceptions / allows... it works great all subsequent times.
Hopefully I don't run into an application or security hole that requires me to update to Java 7.

I haven't had much success with Unisphere and Java 1.7 yet. As Undertaker98 mentioned make sure your browser variant matches your java install. On my machines I always make sure Java 1.6 u17 or u31 are installed and in my personal experience Chrome and Unisphere haven't always been best of buds, Firefox or IE usually are the most reliable for me. Try running Java 1.6 u17 or u31 and let us know what happens!

Hello guys.
I'm just tried a simple steps and this work for me.
Try this:
First of all, install the jre 1.6, allow the update,wait the progress, and after the end of update, click with optional mouse button(commonly right button) and select "Solve Compatibility Issues - or same like this (sorry my bad English, I'm working in that)."
After click on this option, Windows will use the "Windows XP SP2 compatibility", and you will be able to click on Next, Next, Finish.
Click again, but now you will click on the Executable Program File, not on the installer, and you do this: with optional mouse button select "Run as administrator".
Look if this work.
For me, this is the solution!

Just an update in 2022, trying to access Unisphere in 2022 - that still worked, portable version of Firefox 52 and Java 6u31 allowed me to connect.
