Duplicate VM Target
What is the appropriate action to take when an Avamar image backup fails with the status "Duplicate VM Targets"?
I'm not even sure what that means when I can't see anything duplicated anywhere.

check with VCenter people and make sure there are NOT 2 VM's with the same name.
I had the same issue.
they were in Different domains.
myserver.domain1.com
myserver.domain2.com
because the backups does not use the domain.com but only the short name "myserver"
Avamar would see 2 servers with the same name and not know what to backup.
I had to have my VCenter guys change the name to myserver2.domain2.com

As it turns out, the function of this server is to attach and release virtual disks much like the Avamar proxies do. When the disks were attached, the backups would fail with this error.
