EQL PS4100 6gb and 12gb disks mix use?

hi all,

I have EQL PS4100 with 24x 900GB 10k 6gb sas disks.

i need to change one of them with a 900GB 10k 12gb sas disk.

it says disk is not approved.

is there a way to mix use of 6GB and 12GB disks?

Hello,

Where did you get the drive?  I suspect is in not an actual Dell Equallogic drive.  You cannot use OEM or other Dell branded drives that are not specifically made for the Dell PS Series SAN.  For example a PowerEdge server drive will not work.  Even if had the same drive part number.

The 12Gb drives sync down to 6Gb so that is not an issue.

What revision of firmware are you running?  If it's very old that too can cause compatibility issues.

 Regards,

https://ibb.co/8bCYjk2 Hello, Sorry for late answer. I just got the disk and send you a photo of it. It seems like EQL disk. but not sure is it suppoted by PS4100. Do you know is it supported? i have tried 2 different PS4100. but unfortunately i dont have chance to try on PS6100. Firmware of the controllers are latest.(10.0.2) And thank you for your attention.

Hello,

I can't really tell from the photo.  But 6100/4100 use the same drives.  So likely it is not a true EQL drive.  It might from a powervault array for example.

 Regards,

Don
