Dell XPS 13 9370 - vertical black/blue columns in screen

Hi there,

since I bought the laptop more than a year ago I have been having some problems. I am not sure when it happens exactly, but the screen sometimes goes with multicoloured vertical lines, pretty much going black, that cover all content.

The way to quickly solve it is to put the lid down for a few seconds (30-60 sec) and then try again. Usually then it behaves for a while. it happens quite often, but not always (once or twice a day? maybe less?)

I think it happens more often when I plug it (or unplug it) to a second screen, but it is not always, and when it comes back fro sleep. It feels that it has something to do with the drivers, as it usually performs well... but as far as I understand, I am all up to date.

any help?

Have you tried an external monitor and if so does it occur on that monitor as well? The following might offer some information. It does sound like the LCD screen though. Restart the system and at the Dell splash screen start tapping F12. Run full diagnostics paying attention to the LCD results. If it only happens once or twice a day, it could be tricky to diagnose the problem until it start to happen constantly.
