@Rahanur

You might want to read this thread if you need/want more than 8 GB:

https://www.dell.com/community/Optiplex-Desktops/3010-16GB-ram/td-p/6203290

A lot of old dells work just fine with 8gb ddr3 modules, though they were not originally sold with them and so they were never recorded in the scriptures.

It mostly depends on the processor and chipset, so proceed with caution.

The 3010, all forms, take DDR3 1333 RAM. You have 2 DIMM slots and can place up to 4 GB in each slot for a total of 8GB.

the manual covers this, but only covers what DELL tested long ago,

what works best is upgrade the BIOS first.

then look at what the chip set can do. intel rules will not be broken (HW logic) then BIOS then MOBO bandwidth.

MT, DT, SFF, USFF, All-in-one (what PC I  can not guess PC this week)

H61 chipset is very good.

H61 in its own right is limited to 16GB max. holds 2 sticks of try , 2x 8GBstick matched, (might work)

The H61 does video , and my have limits on RAM type and size. IDK

PENTIUM G2020 cpu  .  not even ivybricge core i3, wow.

G20xx support up to DDR3-1333 memory while G21xx support up to DDR3-1600.

the CPU runs the RAM directly and this CPU must be made happy first. (then BIOS)

and will guess PC is MT, a mini tower, the big one, with the MT motherboard and answer, sorry not reading the manual on 5 PC today.

The PC is old and back then nobody can test modern high density ram not invented then yet,  so that is your job.

you get to do what DELL told you long ago, or try 2 x 8GB sticks.  go hog wild ,it may work.

the base limit is that CPU chip, it has rules for rank, banks and dram sizes supported. 1r8 or 2r8 etc.

the G2020 data sheet clear on those MMC rules, of you chose to read that. ( DRAM density has limits)

  • 64 bit systems should accept 8gb per slot if the latest bios update is installed.
  • My T3500 supposedly maxes out at 12gb but I have 18gb installed and it works great.
