Both Service Tag Numbers you mention have the Perc 3/dc controller installed. The Dell OpenManage Server Assistant CD (DOSA) version 7.0 will not assist in the install of Win2003. Version 7.4 (or greater) is required. These are the latest versions of System BIOS and ESM Firmware for each system and also the Perc Firmware and Driver.
I can't install windows 2003 server on PE 6650, since I don't have the latest server assistant cd, I had to do upgrade from win2k server, but now the array management program won't work with win2k3 server, even after I downloaded this latest Dell OpenManage Array Manager, give me an error warning says the OpenManage won't work wiith my current PERC/3D firmware/driver level.(since we just path the RAID controller with the latest patch from dell), so I am not sure what's going on with this server management software. have you guys get the latest OpenManageme
cd for windows 2k3 server? or can I download it from somewhere?let me know. thx
My system is registered in the UK so I cannot gain access to the US site and the Europe support site do not have the same files.
Should the files I apply to my UK system be the same versions as you recommended?
I have managed to download them for now direct from the US FTP site with the help of google but is there a reason why we cannot access the US site or why Europe dont have the same files? The UK support site does send us to the same forums!
I understand your frustration about the different websites. I do not have any control over this but I do have a work-around. Delete your cookies from Internet Explorer, then the next time you try to access the US website, choose Home and Small Business and do NOT enter a Service Tag Number. Choose your sytem from the pull-down list instead. All the links I provided should then work.
FYI, the files are the same for the US systems or UK systems. You should be able to search for the exact filename on the UK site and find the file, but I have not confirmed this.
The Array Manager "should" work if you have the latest Perc firmware and drivers installed. If you will provide the Service Tag Number of your PowerEdge Server, I can list the latest revisions.
We now have a specific technical support group here to assist in the installation of the Dell OpenManage products. Please call 1-800-624-9896 and select the PowerEdge Servers options.
FYI, The latest revision of the OpenManage Applications is part number 310-0399. Dell spare parts can be reached by phone at 1-800-357-3355.
I am having a problem with the secondary ide controller conflicting with the motherboard on irq15. I have installed both the motherboard bios upgrade and the backplain upgrade. I have to leave the controller enabled for cdrom and as far as I know we cannot disable the secondary controller. I have tried changing the configuration in configuration manager with no avail and I am still getting the error. Is there a way to fully disable the secondary channel for 2003 so it doesn't appear in the hardware list or cause conflicts on the system board. Or is there another solution you recommend. The systems configuration uses the 2003 local drivers.
There is a perceived resource conflict (IRQ 15) between the Embedded Server Management (ESM) circuitry and the secondary IDE controller. Even though the secondary IDE controller is disabled and not utilizing any system resources, a plug and play operating system, such as W2K, detects it and allocates a resource. Since the secondary IDE controller is unused on these platforms, this is an erroneous error. No actual problems will arise from the resource conflict.
To resolve this symptom, download and install this file: Dell 2nd IDE Channel Patch, Windows, A02 Filename: 2chidefixA02.exe (26 KB) <ADMIN NOTE: Broken link has been removed from this post by Dell>
I have now upgraded the Poweredge 6450's to Win2k3 and I have the same message. I have used the file you have mentioned but Windows says it is an older version - should i use this with 2003?

The "driver" does nothing more than identify the device to the Windows Operating System so the conflict will no longer appear in Devive Manager. There is not a specific Win2003 "driver", however the Win2000 version should work just fine. Just ignore the message about installing an older driver.

Hi,
The secondary IDE conflict is not "real". Win2000 and Win2003 thinks there is a conflict. There will be no degradation of performance or risk of data loss if you ignore the error.
