m15 R7, not starting

Question

one year old laptop lightly used won't power up.  Voltage shows good with the power block. Disconnected battery and plugged in the power cable - nothing.  IIn my situation, will a bad battery keep it from starting?

Besides physical damages, a year old battery should not kept the laptop from powering on.  But, you already tested without the battery and nothing.  It could be the DC in power jack or motherboard.  Since it's a hardware issue and needing part for repair/replacement, time to click on Get Help Now.

Just wanted to eliminate the battery as the culprit.  I've got a return ticket to Dell in the works.  I broke into a cold sweat just thinking  about the cost of replacing a mobo. A DC jack is a much better thing to have replaced! Thanks for the thoughts.
