I fail to see why a modern laptop system such as the Inspiron 9400/E1705 does not have the option to specifically enable AHCI (Advanced Host Configuration Interface) when the Intel ICH7-M platform clearly supports it. The transfer mode is set by default to standard Serial-ATA mode, but if I want to take advantage of my Hitachi's hard-drive NCQ capabilities I would need it to function in AHCI mode. Please, I beg a Dell Engineer if you are reading this to actually consider adding in the MANUAL option to set AHCI for the next BIOS release. Very disappointed. Regards, Pawel.
