Returns

Purchased an inspiron laptop from dell as Christmas present for daughter. Delivered 10th December but not opened till Christmas Day. Touchpad is sank/depressed in two corners. Contacted Dell Customer Care to be told there was only a 14 day returns policy (even though goods are damaged) and put me through to Technical Support. They told me it wasn’t their problem and put me back to where I started at Customer Care. Once again went through all details and was told I could have exchange or a £42 payment as a way of apology. Said I would prefer an exchange. After being put on hold I was then told I could not do this as it was more than 14 days since I received goods.  Again put through to Technical support and call rang out. Going around in circles here. Anyone any ideas on best step to get help?

So two days later I’m still going around in circles. Spoke to technical support today. Asked me to photograph sank/depressed touchpad. They showed picture to a “technician” who claims there is nothing wrong with laptop. I know this to be wrong because we have had exact same model at home for 6 months and  touchpad completely flat. I tried to point this out and was told I could not have replacement as a new laptop would probably have exact same issue. Said someone from customer care would ring me inside two working days. Have feeling they are trying to stretch my waiting time out beyond the 30 days since purchase so as to affect my customer rights. Has anyone else had similar problems from dell
