Latutide D600 crashes when connected to a projector with Function F8 pressed
Dell Latitude D600 crashes and reboots when I connect any projector, and press Function F8. Any suggestions for fixing this? Please help.
Nikki.

Thank you for using Dell's Community Forum.
When it crashes, do you have any other peripherals connected?
Has it ever worked on that system?
How quickly does it crash?
Does it give you any error messages?

with XP, SP2, and all software listed on Dell site. When I attach
a projector using a video cable and press Fn and F8 [to send video
out to projector] the laptop sometimes reboots. Other times it
works fine and the video is sent to projector. But -- when it does
reboot it basically crashes, as if the power was unplugged, and then
it reboots. I don't have any other peripherals attached.
without the Fn key being pressed at the same time...
updated the BIOS to ver A09
updated SIGMATEL STAC 9750 AC97 audio to rev A15
reinstalled Intel mobile chipset rev A05
reinstalled modem software PCTEL MDC rev A12
reinstalled intel pro/100 VE network connection A01
reinstalled intel proset windows diagnostics
reinstalled ALPS glide point (touchpad) rev A01
installed updated "Dell notebook systems" rev. A18
reinstalled intel extreme graphics 855GM rev A00
reinstalled SpeedStep fix for WinXP
a newer version I found on Dell site.
Cisco VPN software -- although the Cisco wireless card is not inserted when
the crash/reboot occurs
says that the probable problem driver is c:\windows\system32\drivers\ialmkchw.sys
UNEXPECTED_KERNEL_MODE_TRAP_M (1000007f)
EXCEPTION_DOUBLE_FAULT
They called this an "instant death" fault
Mine is dated 2/15/2003 The crash analyzer gives it a date of
FRI FEB 14 19:13:15 2003
crashing problem when pressing the F8 key. However, I will try looking for a newer
[or older] version of the intel files.
