UNSOLVED
E5550 no bootable device found
Latitude E5550 (out of warranty).
Original Hard drive had gotten slow and battery wouldn't hold a charge. Was running Windows 10
- Installed new battery (3-cell 38Wh OEM Battery RYXXH)
- Installed new SSD (Crucial MX500 1TB - CT1000MX500SSD1)
- BIOS version A24
-
- Set to UEFI
- SATA set to ACHI
- Secure boot disabled
- Using bootable USB installed clean Windows 20H2 allowing install to define partitions
- Applied latest Windows updates
- Installed Dell Support Assistant and installed 9 recommended drivers including
- Intel Rapid Storage Technology Driver - A14
- Intel Chipset - A01
- I do show 3 drives in Device Manager missing drivers
- Broadcom on USH
- PCI Simple Communications Controller
- Unknown Device
System runs fine for a while
- Can reboot with no issue
- Can shutdown and restart with no issue
- Can close the lid and reopen hours later no issue
If I leave the laptop lid open this problem occurs when it seems to goes to sleep (plugged in to power)
- BSOD: Critical Process Died
- Reboot fails with No bootable drive found
If I run the ePSA diags immediately after this, the hard drive is not found.
- If I fully power off and back on I can run ePSA diags and drive is found and no issues noted
- I can then boot Windows
Power options all set to Sleep
- Fast startup is checked as well as Sleep and Lock. Hibernate is not.
Power plan set as Balanced
- Display off 10 minutes
- Hard drive 20 minutes
I have pulled and reseated the hard drive and battery.
Any suggestions on what is causing this or how to fix this?
