We got over 50 new Latitude 7420s, we usually imaged the machines using PXE and there were some driver pack issues. Some of these problems have been solved by updating the BIOS to the latest version (1.7) available on the DELL website, like the AHCI Controller, Audio, and Type-C thunderbolt port. However, we still have problems: 1. Even that we order these laptops without a smart card, Windows Event Log still showing up Smart Card Service Error. Causing the Windows to crash sometimes( in a day). 2. The Device manager still showing an unknown device, which can't be updated even with Windows generic drivers or from DELL SupportAssist. 3.Constant memory error. We still troubleshooting these problems, but can't determine if is DELL related or Windows.
Having similar out of the box issues with E7400's and E7300's, hardware fault, have attempted multiple OS reloads using Dell OEM and our Windows Deployment Tools. I am concerned there are quality issues at this time and have started to return any troublesome system out of the box for exchange.

my organisation also bought this model and gave us lot of issues, the known issues are microphone and speaker kept malfunctioning, once was working, unplugged and re-plugged in it failed to work.
not able to detect USB card reader, tried at least 3 types of different makers' card reader, all failed to work or detect.
