Latitude E6410 | Intel Graphics Control Panel is gone

Dell Inc. Latitude E6410
OPERATING SYSTEM Microsoft Windows 10 Pro (64-bit)
Version (Build) 2009 (10.0.19042)

Hi everyone. I have a significant issue with my Dell. I'll go in chronological order.

On the 20th of March a Windows update was completed.

I have an additional TV monitor setup off of my Latitude. After the Win update, the generic monitor display on the Latitude would no longer work. However, on startup, the Dell logo would appear and then after that, the blue Windows icon, but after the Windows icon would stop as bootup continued, the laptop display would shut down and the external TV would kick in. This renders the laptop useless for work away from my TV. I'm tied to it because my laptop monitor is off. Detect display did not work, nor did extend or clone displays.

In my Intel Graphics Control Panel, only the TV display was recognized whereas the generic Latitude monitor was also previously.

I reinstalled the graphics driver through the device manager and rebooted.

I got my laptop monitor back and working, but now my TV monitor was down.

I went to open the Intel Graphics Control Panel, but it was gone. When right clicking on the desktop, it had vanished from the list. Going to display settings, again, detect displays did not work.

I went back into the device manager and the display adapter had also vanished. The only thing I have for a display in the device manager is Generic PnP monitor - Device Migrated 2021-03-20 - the day of the Windows update.

So that's about it. I'm stuck without a TV and could use a little help.

Image of control panel.

Thanks, everyone.

    @MikeGH

Yes the "Microsoft Basic Display" will be "Intel HD Graphics" after we find the correct driver and possible sequence to install it.

    Try to install this driver.

    Intel HD Graphics Driver:

@MikeGH  The driver link provided by ieee488 above is for even older CPUs and integrated GPUs than the one in your system.  Here is the one meant for the Core 5th Gen CPUs actually in your system.  However, be aware that Intel Graphics drivers obtained directly from Intel don't always install on laptops.  They sometimes throw an error saying to obtain them from your laptop manufacturer.  But I just checked the Dell Support page for the E6410, and it only has drivers for Windows 7 and earlier.  So the one above is likely your best shot.  If you encounter that error, you can typically force the drivers to install using the Device Manager "Have Disk" function.  I can provide more details about that if you actually encounter the error and Googling that term doesn't surface a guide for you to follow.

Thanks but I tried that last night. Ran the support assistant, nothing found. I downloaded a few drivers manually that I thought might work based on their dates but I got a message on all of them saying my computer isn't new enough for the drivers - or words to that effect.

    Thanks though.

This computer does not meet the minimum requirements...

Got that message for both of the drivers you guys gave me.

Am I on the right track?

I'll be back later. I've been working on this for about 20 hours straight with a brief sleep break. I need a beer.

Thanks to both of you for your help. I really appreciate it.

I only found one unknown device. These are images of it. Note image 4. That's the day of the Win 10 update.

@MikeGH  The monitor is separate from the GPU.  You should have something under Display Adapters.  If not, then you should have something under Other/Unknown Devices.  It wouldn't make sense for you to not have a display adapter device at all.

There is the video controller too under "Other Devices".

Reinstall the drivers for this device. (Code 18)

To reinstall the drivers for this device, click Reinstall Driver.
