Latitude e6420 memory upgrade

Hi,

My Dell Latitude e6420 currently have 8GB RAM (two 4GB sticks). Now I want to upgrade it to 16GB, but while searching online if this model supports 16GB RAM, there are two opposite answers. Some say it can support until 8GB and some say it can support upto16GB. Can you please help me to clarify this?

From Dell specifications, your Latitude E6420 could support 8GB of memory officially.  However, users have installed more than specs and this system can support and works with 16GB of memory, validated by users.

16 GB is the max RQAM size.
    Take a look here:

I have owned 2 Dell Latitude E6420 laptops and I've upgraded both to 16gb of RAM. Before you do an upgrade past 8GB, make sure you flash the BIOS to the latest revision (I believe its A25). If you install the RAM before flashing the BIOS to the latest version, the laptop won't boot.
